Workflow Automation Strategist

United States and Canada, Canada
$70,000 - $90,000 USD yearly
At Switchboard, we are a founder-led company, and as a small but growing agency, we're excited to expand our team with individuals who share our passion for automation and making people’s work lives better.

We transform SMB’s business operations with modern cloud-based tools, no-code automation, and workflow design so people can get rid of the mundane in their work day.

The Role

Are you a strategic thinker with a knack for business process improvement and no-code automation?

You might be the perfect fit for our team as a Workflow Automation Strategist with a 1-year, full time contract to start.

In this role, you will dive deep into clients' business processes and systems, uncover opportunities, and craft custom workflow strategies that leverage automated solutions and improved data architecture to help them work smarter, not harder. While your focus will be on strategy and design, you will need to know the technical capabilities of tools and collaborate closely with technical implementation teams to see your work come to life and be a part of testing the implementation work we do.

What You'll Do
  • Client Consultations: Meet (remotely) with clients to understand their needs and transform existing processes and high-level ideas into well-defined, actionable plans for improvement.
  • Workflow Design: Design end-to-end workflows that include automation steps to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Tool Exploration: Discover and recommend SaaS and automation tools tailored to each client's needs for gaps they may have in their tech stack.
  • Technical Feasibility: Define possibilities within technical constraints, including where API integrations or custom code may be needed.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Project Managers and Automation Developers to ensure top-notch quality in what we implement and help test new processes before launching them.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients and internal teams, building trust and ensuring alignment.
Who We're Looking For
  • Experience: 4+ years in business strategy or operations with a strong background in business process automation within an agency or consulting setting.
  • SaaS Savvy: Familiarity with a broad range of SaaS categories used across various departments in SMB businesses.
  • Automation Proficiency: Strong understanding in automation tools and a solid grasp of APIs, simple data architecture, and analytics tools. You should be deeply familiar with the capabilities of tools like Zapier and Airtable and know when things are possible with those tools and when custom code or API integrations may be needed.
  • Process Design Proficiency: Experience in conducting tool & data infrastructure audits, and stakeholder interviews to identify opportunities. You should have experience in crafting high-level roadmaps that link to strategic opportunities and defining detailed workflows within those for Automation Developers to implement.
  • AI Knowledge: A good understanding of OpenAI’s API and AI prompt creation.
  • Strategic Vision: Ability to see the bigger picture and understand how detailed strategies fit within it.
  • Communication Skills: Down to earth communication style as we’re not fans of jargon and “business speak.” You should have the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in an engaging way.
  • Client Relations: Proven track record in building partnership-like experiences with high-level client stakeholders in SMB environments.
  • Timezone Flexibility: Able to have your workday overlap a minimum of 4 hours with PST time zone.
  • Curiosity-First Mindset: We get it. It’s impossible to know every tool and every business process out there, so above all else, we’re looking for folks who are naturally curious, comfortable with admitting they don’t know what they don’t know, and proactive in finding answers to questions they may have.
What You'll Get
  • Remote Flexibility: Work remotely with a team serving clients throughout North America.
    • Note: You must be a US or Canadian citizen/resident.
  • Meaningful Impact: Directly influence the operations and growth of numerous businesses through your work.
  • Hands-On Growth: Be at the forefront of the evolving world of automation and AI being used in the digital operations of growing companies.
  • Collaboration: Join a culture that values your blend of strategic and technical knowledge.
  • Compensation: Full-time, 1-year contract with a competitive salary range of $70,000 - $90,000 USD, commensurate with experience.
  • Benefits: Start with 3 weeks of paid vacation.
  • There is a high potential for full-time employment after the contract period.
