What You Will Achieve

The Director of Portfolio Management & Financial Operations position reports to the Senior Director, Bus Ops, Quality & Continuous Improvement. This position will provide financial leadership to BPC (BioPharma, Patient, and CDI) Digital by ensuring that annual project expense targets are achieved, costs adhere to financial policies and reporting commitments are met to Finance and other recipients of financial information..

How You Will Achieve It

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and execute cross functional strategic projects driving efficiency and value for digital developing new process, techniques, and services.
  • Drive streamlined financial communications to broad set of business and digital stakeholders.
  • Lead planning and financial strategy.
  • Collaborate with department leadership and Finance on programs and strategies in support of our operational targets.
  • Govern the project portfolio and oversee management of project expenses to target.
  • Oversee management of:
    • project accounting activities to accurately track project costs.
    • cost recognition process for submitting accruals to ensure accuracy.
    • procure-to-pay process to ensure the continuous flow of funds for ongoing operations and projects.
    • business case governance process
    • fixed assets from project approval through activation
  • Conduct continuous improvement activities to improve the visualization of data and automate manual, routine activities.


Managing the Project Portfolio

  • Provide financial support to manage annual project expenses to semester financial targets across all funding sources (Capital, Operating Expense, Restructuring Expense and Cloud Computing Agreements)
  • Review project accruals to ensure that the costs of services performed and good received are properly accrued according to financial policies.
  • Review $20M in accruals, re-classes, intercompany charges, and statistical charges related to projects to ensure that financial results are properly stated.
  • Identify and manage project variance explanations versus actuals, budget, and latest forecast.
  • Manage budget transfers related to newly approved projects. This includes collecting operating expense budget level details and documented financial support agreements from our clients.
  • Strong partnership with functional lines within BPC and procurement will be essential in understanding the needs and defining go forward approaches.

Managing Project Accounting

  • Manage project codes from creation to closure.
  • Participate in master data management activities (project codes, data tables, etc.)

Managing the Procure-to-Pay Process

  • Oversee the monitoring of the creation of purchase orders valued annually at $400M+ to ensure adherence to Procurement and Financial policies with the use of custom Robotics Desktop Automation applications.
  • Act as the single point of contact to review all Executive Summaries required for all purchase orders going to the SVP of BPC 
  • Ensure the timely closure of purchase orders to maintain proper financial records.

Coordinating Business Case Reviews

  • Partner with Digital and Business stakeholders to drive content and manage Business Case Review for projects that require CPAs and CROWN entries.
  • For significant investments (e.g. capital projects) work across stakeholders to drive approval end endorsement
  • Ensure appropriate operational steps are completed to enable project execution (e.g. creation & release of project codes)

Maintaining Fixed Assets Under Development

  • Manage the +$300M fixed asset portfolio throughout the asset development lifecycle.
  • Activate assets globally and locally once put into productive use and post hyper-care support ends.
  • Ensure status of assets is managed to ensure proper tax reporting.

Adopting a Continuous Improvement Mindset

  • Identify manual, routine activities and drive efficiencies through automation or process improvement.
  • Document and improve financial processes across the organization.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Experience managing large technology project portfolios.
  • Experience utilizing project portfolio management tools.
  • 10 years of experience working in a corporate environment in a financial analysis role
  • Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Nice-to-Have

Technical Skills

  • Analytical capabilities to understand and explain financial variances.
  • Results driven and able to drive cost savings to achieve financial targets
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and effective use of other Microsoft Office products (i.e., PowerPoint, Word)
  • Experience using Tableau a plus

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $149,200.00 to $248,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
